Production operations
MES: production shift execution
The shift works from assignments. Leaders see actual progress before it ends.
Proposal to explore
Who it is for: Plant directors, production managers and shift supervisors. MES means manufacturing execution system.
The work to address
Assignments and actual progress are separate. Output, downtime, material usage and unfinished work are collected at shift end, sometimes from memory.
Inputs
Shift assignments, operations, required checks, operator records and available data from equipment or an existing MES.
Expected outcome
A current view of the shift and facts prepared for transfer to the accounting system.
How the process could work
A proposed workflow. We validate actions, connections and permissions against your data before launch.
Assign work and capture facts
The operator receives a task on a work screen, completes required checks and records start, output, scrap, downtime and completion.
Handle exceptions
BOS compares actual progress with the assignment, routes questions to a supervisor, coordinates material requests and prepares the shift report. Use equipment or existing system data where available to avoid duplicate entry.
What to verify before launch
The human decision
Confirmation of disputed facts, technology decisions and equipment and product release.
What to verify before launch
Start with one workstation or production area. Assess operations, fact capture, load and behaviour during connection loss.
Solution boundaries
This could be a limited production workstation on BOS or integration with an existing MES. It is a direction to explore, not a ready-made MES. AI control of machinery or industrial safety systems is outside this scenario.
How to assess results
Reporting latency, report preparation time and downtime and exception coverage.
Connecting departments
Link production assignments with materials, quality, warehouse and actual output accounting.
What our engineer configures
We start with a limited area. Our engineer configures BusinessOS around your rules, connects the necessary systems and stays to support and develop the solution.
Work screens, operations, checks, fact collection, data exchange and handling connection failures.
Working with usStart with your task
In 20 minutes, discuss inputs, the required output and where a person is needed. Then agree what to test and which materials are necessary.
